Research Interests
I am an integrated physiologist with a research emphasis on advancing our comprehension of the gut-brain-axis's role in metabolic regulation. My investigations center around two overarching themes. Firstly, we focus on understanding the role of a gut peptide, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), on glucose homeostasis and how dysregulation of GLP-1 is involved with the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Secondly, my focus extends to the adaptations within the gut-brain axis following bariatric surgery, exploring their correlation with significant weight loss and improvements in glucose and lipid homeostasis observed post-surgery. Employing in vivo physiology experimental tools in genetic mouse models, my research strives to uncover the underlying mechanisms driving these physiological phenomena.
