Care Philosophy
My academic career has combined health services research and teaching all aspects of research career success. As an expert on mentored research and faculty development, I co-founded the Education, Training, and Career Development Core of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI), and faculty development programs that trained hundreds of faculty and fellows at CU-Anschutz, nationally, and globally in research and leadership over the last two decades. Example of these are a new online course an online course in researcher management and leadership training for early career principal investigators on Coursera at https://www.coursera.org/learn/researcher-management-leadership-training/, as well as the CCTSI Clinical Faculty Scholars Program; the CCTSI Colorado Mentoring Training program (CO-Mentor); and the CCTSI Leadership for Innovative Team Science program (LITeS). With Dr. Judy Regensteiner, I co-direct the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Fund to Retain Clinical Scientists program, the Women's Leadership Training Program, and serve as senior faculty at the CU Center for Women's Health Research. My research expertise is patient-oriented outcomes research, specifically, comparative effectiveness research on the organization and financing of health care systems. My academic research and education work has been funded via investigator-initiated project and training grants from foundation and federal sources.
