Research Interests
My research focuses on the evolution, transmission, and geographic spread of infectious disease epidemics, with a focus on emerging and antimicrobial-resistant pathogens (including malaria, tuberculosis, and other drug-resistant bacteria). To do this, we use tools from microbial genomics, population genetics, and mathematical modeling, leveraging both conventional and newer data sources (including microbial genomic sequence data and human mobility data). Ultimately, this research seeks to advance new tools and strategies for the surveillance, prevention, and clinical care of high-priority infectious diseases that threaten human health and well-being.
