Research Interests

My research interests focus on the cognitive consequences (i.e., acutely as delirium and chronically as long-term cognitive dysfunction) of sepsis and other critical illness. I perform both basic and translational research in this realm seeking to identify the relevance of brain-penetrating heparan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate in these conditions. Ultimately, I seek to develop novel biomarkers and/or therapeutics for these understudied problems.
