Clinical Interests
I greatly enjoy the challenge of general internal medicine. I am stimulated by the breadth and depth of medical knowledge and interpersonal skills needed for success in primary care internal medicine. It is very rewarding to build lasting relationships and to experience various life events—good and bad—with my patients. I am particularly interested in helping patients to maintain excellent health, as this approach is much more effective than managing chronic medical problems. I am excited to have the opportunity to teach students and residents at the Anschutz Medical Campus in various capacities.
Care Philosophy
I strive for a genuinely collaborative relationship between doctor and patient, ideally one that grows over many years. I believe that mutual trust and understanding are powerful forces to improve health outcomes in my patients. I love to teach; the better my patient understands what I am recommending, the more likely he/she will adhere to those directions.
Personal Interests
I enjoy spending time with my wife and two teens. I am physically active with hiking, biking, running, skiing, playing tennis and softball. I love to read, mostly history, biographies and other non-fiction.
Volunteer Activities
I recently began supervising health care students at the DAWN Clinic, a student-run free medical office in nearby Aurora that serves uninsured individuals. Giving back to this very needy segment of our community is an honor. I have also volunteered to be substitute medical staff at an overnight summer camp on Mount Evans.
