Dr. Buckner is currently the principal investigator of a study of pain assessment tools in men with hemophilia, as well as a multicenter observational study, the Hemophilia Natural History Study (ATHN7). He is also involved in studies investigating how hip and knee replacement surgeries affect pain, physical function, and quality of life in persons with hemophilia; methods for assessing physical function in men with hemophilia; and multiple studies of new therapeutics for treatment of bleeding disorders.

Personal Interests
Dr. Buckner received his medical degree and completed Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency and a combined fellowship in Hematology (adult) and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He also completed a Masters degree in clinical research at the UNC School of Public Health and a post-doctoral fellowship at the UNC Cecil G Sheps Center for Health Services Research.
In January 2015, Dr. Buckner joined the Hematology faculty at the University of Colorado. His research seeks to identify clinical management strategies that lead to improved patient outcomes for patients with bleeding and clotting disorders.
