Clinical Interests
Dr. Bravman is a board certified (ABOS) and subspecialty board certified (Sports Medicine), fellowship trained (both in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery) Orthopaedic Surgeon who treats a wide variety of sports, knee and shoulder conditions. He has a particular interest and expertise in complex care of the shoulder including both primary and failed shoulder instability, rotator cuff tear and osteoarthritis (total shoulder, reverse total shoulder and revision of previously performed/failed total shoulder). Dr. Bravman currently serves as team physician for the NHL Colorado Avalanche, (2017 National Champion) DU Pioneers Hockey Team and the CU Buffaloes Football Team, in addition to providing care for the Monarch High School Football Team. He previously served as a team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, New England Revolution, and (2011 Stanley Cup Champion) Boston Bruins.
Dr. Bravman is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is passionate about both teaching and research. He is heavily involved in the education of the next generation of sports medicine and shoulder surgeons, responsible for training 6 resident orthopeadic surgeons, 2 sports medicine and shoulder fellows and multiple students yearly. He has distinguished himself as a regional, national and international leader in sports medicine and shoulder surgery, teaching multiple “Master’s” level courses for practicing orthopaedic surgeons and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the areas of sports medicine and shoulder surgical care. Dr. Bravman is a member of multiple professional organizations including the AAOS, AOSSM, AOA Emerging Leaders Program, WOA, Colorado Orthopedic Society, NHL Team Physicians Society and the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and has been elected to leadership roles as a member of the Board of Directors of the WOA and WOF and the Council of Delegates of the AOSSM. Personal Interests
Dr. Bravman grew up in New Jersey where he was a standout soccer player and state champion track athlete, helping him earn a position on the Div. I men’s soccer team at the University of Vermont, where he completed his undergraduate studies with a bachelor of science in Cell and Molecular Biology with minors in both Chemistry and Studio Art. He then moved to Boulder, CO to race bicycles full-time prior to returning to his home state to complete his medical degree at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he graduated with honors in research after completion of a research fellowship in the Sports Medicine and Shoulder Division at NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases. Upon graduation, he returned to Colorado for his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Colorado and went on to complete fellowship training in both sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Harvard-Massachusetts General Hospital. He and his family were thrilled to return to Colorado for a full-time academic Orthopaedic Surgery position at the University of Colorado where he has worked since.
When not at work, you will find Dr. Bravman enjoying all things outdoors with his wife, 3 children and dogs, riding or racing mountain, cyclocross and road bikes, playing hockey, skiing or cheering on the local sports team.
