My lab studies one of the most common causes of pulmonary hypertension worldwide: the parasite schistosomiasis. Working with collaborators around the world, we are studying how the human immune system, in responding to this infection, also causes the side effect of altering blood vessels in the lung to result in pulmonary hypertension, and what treatment approaches we can use to block this effect.
