Clinical Interests
I am interested in interventional therapies for congenital heart disease; Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Disease; Valvular Heart Disease and General Cardiology.
Personal Interests
I became interested in caring for adults with congenital heart disease during my combined internal medicine and pediatric residency in the 1990's when I realized there was a large void in providers specifically trained to understand their complex congenital cardiac issues, but evolving adult medical issues. I am particularly interested in the difficult transition period for adolescents and young adults with congenital heart disease, hoping to create a system here with my colleagues making it as smooth and seamless as possible (I know we still have a lot of work to do).
Personally I consider myself spiritual and or religious, but feel strongly that no one religion has it all right, and we need to support everyone's personal belief system the best we can. Only then can we care of the individual physically and emotionally.
I feel that our Adult congenital heart disease program is the best in the mountain region, if not the country, not because of me or any individual, but our entire team, drawing on the strengths working collaboratively , drawing from the strengths of 2 great hospital systems, and all they have to offer.
